Naturalism and abortion.

Naturalism isn't called a religion because we think of a religion as involving the supernatural. But religion and naturalism both are words used to describe a belief system or world view. Both have the same characteristics. They are views on the nature of reality, the origin of life, the existence of a moral standard applicable to mankind and both have doctrines. They also both have sacraments.

A sacrament is a belief or ritual that is so central to the religion it has become embedded as a sacred tradition. Like communion. With naturalism abortion is so central to their overall belief system and represents its principles so powerfully and clearly that I classify it as a sacrament of naturalists. Their reaction to having this sacrament infringed upon by the government will be as powerful as would be the reaction of the members of a catholic church in Belfast that had been told by the Queen of England they could no longer practice communion, as it was symbolic of cannibalism.

There will be bombs, protests, violence, threats and viciousness. It will be THE issue in November. I don't know the basis for Roe vs Wade. I guess I'm going to read it. I would like to read the opinion that was leaked. I can already see the reasoning behind the fight against overturning it will be based on health concerns of the mother. My personal objection to abortion was cemented when it was legalized in New York to allow a surviving aborted baby to die unattended even if the mom was healthy because she didn't want the baby. You know ..my objection got cemented when abortion was allowed to morph into murder.
