Playing with snow for the first time ever

Few first are left for me, and every time I find one, I try to experience it as best as I can and to get the most I am able to get from the moment.

Just like right here. I felt like I was 7 again and I couldn't hide it

In November 2018 I saw snow for the first time. It was in Krakow, Poland a few days after the @steemfest 3.

Oh well, at least I thought I saw snow, because now that I think about it, the 3 cm of snow I experienced in Krakow seem like a cynical joke after the one meter of snow I played with a few days ago.

It's curious. The person I was with during this first real snow experience was having crazy fun just observing me and it made me feel a little selfconscious about it, but what can you do when in your country it has never snowed and most of your holiday get aways are to sunny, beachy places?

For some people, snow is normal, perhaps even mundane and sometimes boring, kind of repetitive. Just exctly like some people think that living by the Caribbean is for me. The thing is, no matter where I am or what am I doing, I try to get the most out of it.

I've been in Salzburg, Austria for the past few days and the weather here has been less than Spring-worthy. In fact, on my first morning on this little city with no more than 200k people - small, for Mexican terms - it was snowing. I asked my friend if this was normal and her reply was a simple it's Salzburg weather, everything abnormal is normal.

That's when I realized that all these mountains around me have snow almost all year long and despite the winter being almost over, there are still a lot of places with good enough snow worthy of a day trip exploration.

So we decided to go over the weekend to this little spot she knows about. I hope you like the pictures!

In a T-shirt ffs, you'll catch a cold!

If I never saw any more snow again I would not care at all. To the beach any day of the week!

Same. While it’s “pretty” at times, I’m over the cold. Funny thing is being born and raised in the northeast states...snow was a normal part of life. It wasn’t until I moved out west to Cali that I came to truly despise the cold and the snow. Now I’m back where I started...dreaming of the day I can get the F out again and back to warmer weather 24/7.

Ahahaha I've been told soo many times that I will learn to hate the snow sooner or later but I don't know, I think I'll get out of here before that time comes!

Ahaha I have the thermostat broken! Also, it wasn't thaaaat cold :P

We've done a small snow experience and I've decided it's too damn cold XD

If it's any consolation the first "snow" experience I and a bunch of Asian uni students had was when we had an unprecedented amount of hail fall one time. The kids in the student accommodation were amazed to find hail still in balls all over the ground and we immediately proceeded to play in it like snow, compacting it into balls for fights (it kinda hurts but it was so much fun...and required hot showers after XD).

Meanwhile this Canadian girl was staring at us in disbelief exclaiming "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE YOU'RE ACTING LIKE YOU'VE NEVER SEEN SNOW BEFORE" XD

Snow and a t-shirt 😂 Though guy! 👍

Ahaha it was just for the picture :P

I remember my cousins from Jamaica were so excited about snow... fast forward 3 years and they HATE it lol. Enjoy while you think its fun...

I've heard that happens quite frequently, I really hope it takes some years for me to get used to it!

Just gotta say, whoever took those photos did them justice! :D * Let the child in you out :P

Candid pictures are the best and although I wasn't expecting someone taking pictures of me at least I was able to use them in this post :D

It's incredible to see someone so happy over snow...I'm with @abh12345 on this one - a sunny beach over snow any day. I hate cold...still, good you're having fun :)

Ahahaha I've spent hundreds of hours lying on a sunny beach it's pretty much become part of me but hey, sometimes we crave the unfamiliar.

Are you planning on hitting Thailand?

I suppose that's true :)) In that case, I'm craving some sunny beach time right now :D

Don't think so...more expensive than what I can afford ATM, so will have to pass..

Nice shots, but you re in jeans and a t-shirt! You aren't really playing with snow unless you have to be bundled up so the air doesn't freeze your face off. If you are ever looking to check "run a snowblower" off your list come see me in January and I will get you taken care of. Nothing like trudging through two feet of snow in -20 F degree weather!

Ahaha now that's something I still need to see, two meters of snow surrounding a house so I might take you up on that one :P It's funny how things that are quite common for some people are so unfamiliar for others, I find interesting to discuss this kind of things.

It is pretty crazy. We got some pretty extreme temps this past Winter. It was fun explaining to the people in South Africa how the air can be so cold it freezes the hairs in your nose!

I love snow but just as a visitor as the times of going to school early in the morning through cold snow wasn’t great! Sand > Snow

Ahaha seems like the consensus is sunny beach > snowy mountains :P

Haha, looks like a lot of fun :)))
We used to play with snow here in Ukraine. Even in summer, there are always mountains high enough to keep the snow 🙂

Around Salzburg there's a lot of mountains that are supposed to stay snowy all year long, I'll have to see that for myself!
I really want to visit Ukraine at some point but I need to get a Visa, probably during this summer i'll go :)

Wow, exciting news! You should arrange a meeting with Ukrainian diaspora of steemians! :D

You are right about mountain in Austria, Berchtesgaden National Park and Hohe Tauern are still on my wish list )))

HI @anomadsoul, it's very beautiful , i also want to play with snow it 's looking enjoyable , i never experienced to play with snow..... :)

Aun no conozco la nieve pero debe ser espectacular ver ese fenómeno climatico. saludos y la próxima vez mas abrigadito

The first time I saw snow, I can not really keep my nervousness at it. Wondering so this is called snow

Nice views over there!

I like the pictures but not the snow! I cannot stand cold and surrounded by mountains it is especially at night. It takes long for summer to arrive this year :(
