Earthquakes

Alaska has been shaking

furiously for months. I have been watching since massive earthquakes struck the north part of Alaska in previous months starting around July and increasing severity as a Mag7 quake shook Alaska and aftershocks are ongoing.

(Past week ending today Dec 17 2018)

You can see below the two major areas that are now quaking, on the right which is North you can see that quakes are still occurring in both North from Prudehoe Bay to Kaktovik in the North, and South around Anchorage, Alaska.

We see other stress areas

at the same time where a Mag 4 quake struck British Columbia,

and down the Western United States and the West coast as well.

A recent Mag 4 quake near the New Madrid fault line was in the news last week.

The most exciting recent Quake

is this Mag 7 quake that shook the South Sandwich Islands. This one was near Montague Island!

More than just a Volcanic length of Islands, South Sandwich islands are in the Socitia Sea which is a techtonic plate boundary, '..subducting the South American Plate to the east, the Antarctic Plate to the south and the Scotia Plate to the west.'
