1. Banyan Tree

The banyan tree was originally native to India. when growing it puts down rope like roots and as they take root in the soil. They thicken to create more tree trunks. One tree can spread out many meters. In the Kolkata Botanic Gardens, there is a banyan tree with more than 1700 trunks. That is 200 years old. During Alexander the Great's campaign in India. One banyan tree is said to have sheltered twenty thousand soldiers.

It has an amazing ability to become almost completely desiccated without dying.
