When I first saw one of the queens with 1 antennae, I though that it was an accident.
Then I saw her being pulled by the antennae.
Tough Love?
Well now, I think she is just a reproduction machine.
She has no antennae.
She is missing 2 front legs.
Some of the ants seem to antagonise her.
She laid an egg and I think they just ate it or destroyed it.
Meanwhile, the other queen is in good shape and not mishandled by the other ants
- She is The One
I am intrigued by the behaviour.
They could easily kill the losing queen yet they still pay a sort of morbid homage.
Just like humans, there is a majesty being metered out.
But now she is dead.
The colony continues to expand.
