#Mushroom hunting Part 2:

in nature •  7 years ago

Good morning Steemers! Sorry that I didn't post this yesterday. For some reason mushrooms of any sort have me walking in the clouds. I found some chanterelle mushrooms along with a couple of black trumpet mushtooms and had them for dinner. Cooked up in some olive oil and salt and pepper, they were great, but an hour or so later I was feeling "Great", but I was feeling a nap coming on, so I took one. It damn near had me feeling like I drank a case of beer because alcohol does that to me. It knocked my ass out. So the first two mushrooms are what I cooked up and the rest is what I saw.

The three yellowish orange mushrooms above are chanterelle mushrooms. The three below are black trumpet mushrooms. They are hard to see but one you recognize what they are then you will know. I stepped on the first one but that was at the same time that mind was making the connection of what it was. Then I saw the rest of these when I started looking around. They are pretty fragile and they look like a tulip. There isn't a whole lot to them only a U shaped stem that opens up into the open top mushroom.

The rest are just random mushrooms.

I will put this out there. In no way am I educating you on mushrooms. Do your own research and properly identify any mushroom before you consume it. There's one truth. You will never find any old mushroom hunters out there. Maybe you will find that one "unicorn" mushroom that you misidentified that you will regret eating later, or in my case my body reacts to the mushrooms in it's own way and maybe you will to, but just be causious when consuming wild edibles until you know how your body will react. Eat little bits at a time at first and then work your way up from there.

I just wanted to share that with you and I hope more of you get out and go exploring.

Have a great day everybody and go explore nature!

You just got yourself a new follower! There's nothing I like better than plants and nature itself.

I totally understand how mushrooms have you walking in the clouds. For me, it's gardening. Just watering the tomatoes, pulling the weeds out, and really just mucking around in the dirt!

Nature is good for the soul. The beauty of it all is to notice everything. There's more there than what meets they eye. You can see trees when your walking. When you look harder you'll see bushes and grass. Look closer yet and you'll see mushrooms and countless things that you would have missed if you didn't stop to look. Nature is where it's at for me. I sleep in a hammock outside every night and take it all in during the day. Who can say that anymore? Enjoy it while you can, as much as you can, even being in a garden has it's benefits.

Have a great day! Thanks for replying.

Yes be very careful! I have shown up on many people that have misidentified mushrooms they have foraged and wound up near dead and in need of a liver transplant.

Thanks for your reply. It's one of those touchy subjects for sure. Mushrooms can be both good and bad but a mouthful of the wrong one will screw you up but good.

Hopefully people will do some research on mushrooms because there's a lot of benefits that comes out of eating the right ones.

Have a great morning!

Awesome photos! Reminds me of when I went mushroom hunting about 8 years ago in the Western Cape mountains of South Africa. After seeing these I'm keen to go again this year - will have to check up on the season.

Hey, thanks for stopping by. Wow, 8 years since your last mushroom hunt? Sure sounds like it's time to venture out and see the woods again. Have fun when you do finally venture out and I would love to see what you end up with.

Have a great day!
