World electricity is about to change permanently for the better.
It is rare when a totally new form of electricity generation appears and presents a way for all world power to be replaced with something better. I think Edison was young the last time.
BACKGROUND...
Two years ago I was in my 8th year as global Sales VP for the SF based real-time streaming data analytics platform, SQLstream.
It was a cool job in connected cities, transportation infrastructure & DHS security projects.
I was wandering through a Silicon Valley tech show in 2015 and came across this booth for a profitable US energy lab that had a new prototype that was right out of a sci-fi novel. I remember staring at the model and reading the entire text-packed description.
I could not get it out of my head.
The idea was simple, and so new it was mind-blowing.
Outdoor temperature changes are constant everywhere, and low temperature flowing waste heat is unharvested everywhere. The supply of this energy is available, everywhere, and free, if there is a way to harvest electricity from it.
Here was a cost effective and totally green way of doing that including plans to scale and soon take on grid-level power using these new methods.
The booth I looked at had a hand written posting on the back. It stated they were looking for their first Sales VP. The ad listed the very specific list of PhD's required to take on this role. They were all in advanced metallurgy.
I pondered Two weeks later I called the CEO/Chief Scientist, Joe Kellogg, and pitched him on the idea that, if he could prove to me the technology works, I would love to take on the VP role. A month later we came to terms. I have been here for two years, working with Joe every day to climb the ladder of successive prototypes, and enable Nitinol Power to fulfill its destiny. Changing the world for the better is a serious goal. We are on it, and we have now crossed the first major league lines; Invention and funding.
The technology is complex in that we are the only company to ever solve the Nitinol puzzle for scalable energy. It is super simple in how it works (with our totally hidden secret sauce).
Our first funded devices are taking on the puzzle of generating electricity from low temperature industrial waste heat.
Thick (12mm) rods of Nickel-Titanium are flooded with continually flowing waste heat water. The flows are alternated every 5 seconds, exposing the 32 two-meter-long Nitinol Rods in each device to different temps in a repeating 10 second cycle. The rods "piston", changing atomic state and literally growing longer, then shorter by 2.5" six times a minute.
This action pressurizes pure vegetable oil in a cylinder, which pressurizes a quantity of this fully biodegradable oil (rapeseed) in a tank. In a closed-loop system, the pressurized plant oil spins a hydraulic generator, returning the oil to the tank in a step system, retaining pressure.
The Nitinol Rods are safe, and will each transform in this manner for decades. Even when they do eventually slow, they can be reprogrammed in a day at our lab. Nickel and Titanium are readily available, and we are the only company able to program it in this form to set transformation temperatures to any 3 degree range from cryogenic to over 100c.
This week we received our funding to build the first 50kw devices, after nine smaller working prototypes and a series of technology contest wins at Stanford, MIT, Silicon Valley, and in China.
The future is very exciting in this arena of Nitinol Power. We are taking on the trillion dollar global low temp waste-heat solution first, yet there is nothing stopping our scaling up to take on all power with this.
The most exciting sector in this is "atmospheric" power. Simple outdoor air temperature changes are able to power these units too. Eight of our nine prototypes are atmospheric devices. It will take a few more years of research for us to scale them, but there is no reason we cannot develop units that will power homes, and all the grid from simple exposure to the range of each local atmospheric temperature changes.
This means grid level power generated in the cold, in the dark, in the wet, in windless conditions, on the ocean surface... everywhere, all from rods of metal that love to transform millions of times as temperatures change.
Nitinol is the least corrosive alloy yet discovered. It does not rust. It behaves like living metal that loves to move. Visually it seems to defy the laws of thermodynamics in that it contracts when heated and expands when cooled. The reality is it changes molecular alignment from martensitic to austenitic states causing this behavior.

We can change the world for developing nations, the poor, and so much more. The world needs this more than almost anything. Inexpensive power from existing sources that lay untapped is a magical thing. A new source of power that is 100% clean, green and is the ultimate renewable is here and funded.
After a couple of years of battling in the trenches to prove this technology works as stated, we have raised the capital we needed to build the first one and we have the partner/investors needed to sell billions of dollars of units once the first build is field tested.
We have an unique opportunity to take on 11 consortium members. The consortium will leverage off of our funded production. Additional units with full install and field testing may be attained for only $150k as a result. We are looking for members to join our first round of field tests. We seek those interested in taking on the global markets for these devices with the lowest possible risk combined with the highest profits.
We have the funding to build now. Consortium members will simply enable us to build and test more of them in additional conditions, while someone else pays for all of the work. The implications for cryptocurrency are substantial as new power sources that pay for themselves in under two years have major potential for a sector that requires vast electricity.

Such an exciting project! The potential for industrial-scale application seems limitless, and Nitinol sounds like a wonder metal. Do you think we will see a day where an entire city gets all or most of its electricity from air?

Yes. We are headed for grid level power solutions within 5 years. Nitinol power scales elegantly and has zero environmental impact. Now that the hardest parts of development are behind us, we are able to focus on scaling energy production per unit and increasing efficiency through perfecting thicker Nitinol Rods for these applications. These units create 50kw continuously with 32 rods that are 2 meters x 12mm. We are working on 24mm thick rods now in the lab, which will eventually generate many times the power per cubic meter of unit space.
