Frog Room Friday-A Weekly Update from our Poison Dart Frog Room!! (Original Content and Pictures)

Hi Friends

It’s Frog Room Friday, but on a Saturday! My apologies for my tardiness. We had a birthday party for my son last night that turned into a sleepover...so, we were a bit tied up to say the least. Ha!

Anyways, on to the update!

In previous updates, I’ve focused on tightly zoomed frog-specific closeups. Today, I just want to give you an idea about their enclosures. The pictures below were from when they were freshly made. It’s currently breeding season, which means I’ve allowed the tanks to grow in and also algae to form on the glass. Although not much to look at currently, it makes a great private area for courting and eventually mating.

It’s important to know that the plants, moss, substrate, and even the leaves are 100% real. Under the leaves live springtails and isopods which aid in tank maintenance and break down Frog feces and mold/mildew.

The backgrounds are also hand made, by me. I’ll be making another tank shortly and hope to post a step by step for those interested.

Other tank setup types are our 10, 20, and 29 gallon tanks. These are horizontal and more fitting for terrestrial frog species such as our “Patricia and Costa Rican Auratus. Some have a background, others do not. It was more of an experiment, than anything, just to see if they would use more of the setup.
