I'm So Lucky To Live In Such A Beautiful Place - Peggy's Cove Canada

We've lived here for 3 years now and still it doesn't get old...

We went out there a couple nights ago to do our usual routine, get ice cream with Brendan's parents and let the kids play around on the greatest jungle gym of all time, the expansive rocks of Peggy's Cove.

We're no good at family photos haha, they always turn out blown. This, and the first photo in the blog, were actually the best one Brendan's Dad could get.

We've even gone there to give Free Hugs!

Here's a few videos of Peggy's Cove. The first is giving free hugs last year, and the next is a massive storm surge we had in January.

Just remember to stay off the black rocks. Yes, there are people who don't listen to the warnings and every year at least one person dies at Peggy's Cove. Many risk their lives trying to be "one with the power of the ocean" in this historical, powerful spot. There's even a hashtag "moronsofpeggyscove" that has photos of people chancing their lives all the time out there.

Hell I wanna come just for the free hugs! You are so very lucky to live there. Does it get a ton of snow usually during the winter?

Ha! Right on :)

Yeah we can get some pretty big dumps of snow, yet unlike the other places I've lived in Canada, it usually melts right away :) <3

What are the regular temps in the winter? Im guessing not as frigid as other places youve lived in Canada? My grandma was born in Alberta and grew up there so Im proud to be part Canadian!

Oooh yeah, I spent a decade in Alberta, it's much warmer here on the coast, the South Shore of NS. Our coldest month is February and the one cold day I've ever seen was -15 hahahahaaa. It's usually the average of -5 and -10 for February. In Alberta I've experienced -50....

So what do you guys do in the winter for fun?
Are you able to keep the greenhouse going?

We did have the greenhouse heated one year, it was too much money in wood heat. Really the best method would be to build a walpini style greenhouse, so it's dug into the ground, for winter growing. When we have our own land, that's what we're going to try :)

Winter fun? Mostly just relax and enjoy the break from the busy summer/fall. The kids always have a blast on the snow days. They go skating too. I just chill...lol

Cool place to visit. Your boys are so handsome! I think all of the photos turned out great! Hugs back to you! 🐓🐓

Aw, thank you so much Mother!! :) Hugs *squeezes!!!

The rocks are black because they're soaked with sea water, correct?

I imagine the water to be VERY cold... assuming that the gulf stream completely bypasses your area...

Yes, the water is VERY cold and the waves are always crashing in, people don't understand how slippery those rocks are, it's like an algae or something like that, you got it, it's where the water is constantly passing over, or completely submerged at high tide. The tide will sweep a person out who falls in SO FAST! And there's always the chance too that a wave will smash you into one of the big rocks, and then yeah...death. You're on twitter, check out #moronsofpeggyscove sometime and see the idiocy.

Morons of Peggys Cove aims to promote safety through humour on Twitter

Morons of Peggys Cove reminds me of the "So many dumb ways to die" campaign on youtube XD Have you seen that?

It's kind of arrogant to challenge slimy rocks and the power of the sea... too bad they couldn't just get a warning slap from a giant squid first...

Aww yeah my kids love those songs LOL!!!

Wow what a beautiful place you live in @lyndsaybowes and what a lovely family you have to share it with. The power of nature is palpable as is the beauty of this area, thanks for sharing!!

Thank you so much for appreciating the landscape here! :) It's definitely one of a kind.

The power of the waves in your video. Nice pictures of your family. I like the free hugs sign.

really beautiful and dreamy place to live :)

HAHAAA Awesome Davood! LOL!!

I love Peggy's Cove. I had the opportunity to visit a friend for a summer when I was a teenager. That was 45 years ago! Yikes! Back then a family by the name of Beal ran the light house. What a fun summer that was! I love the idea of free hugs! What an amazing experience for your family...

Wow you have an incredible memory and the place must have really left an impression on you. The lighthouse is no longer open unfortunately but the light is always on. The Beale's are a huge family out here, they have many shops and an art museum too <3

So sorry to hear that the lighthouse is closed...Many fond memories of that summer in Peggy's Cove...

That place does look amazing, you are lucky! And you are happy in every photo! Love it!

Thank you very much, yes that place always brings out the smiles, such incredible natural beauty!
