Dehorning rhinos in the Etosha National Park as a means of combating rhino poaching

Since 2014 the government of Namibia has decided to dehorn the rhinos. But does it really help to fight the poaching of rhinos or is it just a harmful practice against the rhinos? What's a rhino without it's horns?
