It has almost always been vegetated marsh and what we’re seeing from satellite thus far is we’re seeing water signals through large portions of that area.
Interesting article and video about the destruction of South Louisiana's wetlands do to Hurricane Ida. Boy, the satellite images don't look good at all, the marsh just got washed away, and the sad thing is that it's not coming back unless we do something about it. I still say that fresh water diversions are the long term solution, no doubt about it, it's what built the wetlands to begin with.
