The none protection of our water sources is hurting supply greatly and contributing to the prevalence of cholera in our communities.

Water shortages is really a major call for concern in major cities of developing countries forcing the inhabitants to use water from untreated sources such as wells, which contribute greatly to the prevalence of cholera in these cities and towns. This is greatly do to human activities around water catchment areas or water source and include deforestation, housing, farming, animal husbandry etc.

The effects of the above mentioned activities are only felt over time, thus there is every reason for us to endeavor to protect these areas so as to maintain the flow and availability of good drinking water.
Also the lack of proper planning on the side of the government as she fails to take into consideration the issue of urban expansion over a particular time frame. As such water available in these cities, towns and communities is unable to meet up with the demands of the ever increasing urban populations.

Note should be taken that existing water catchment areas would have been well maintained while new areas developed as well.
Unfortunately, this has not been the case in this part of the world thus forcing its inhabitants to resort to other sources during periods of water scarcity , as such these untreated sources contributes greatly to the spread of cholera.
Water used for domestic purposes has to be relatively clean, and free of all other pollutants , so as to guarantee good health for the population. All living things need water and in different quantities , thus its conservation and protection should be of paramount importance. Therefore, for us to contribute greatly to one of the UN Sustainable Development goals of providing clean water supply, our natural water catchments need to be jealously protected and equally prohibiting all human activities around these areas as well getting new water catchment sites to increase supply and thus curbs the prevalence of cholera in our cities and communities as well. Good quality water is really a jewel, thus should be jealousy guarded, so let us join hand and do it together so as to contribute in providing good quality drinking water to our lovely communities thereby ensuring good health for all, thus reducing the risk of cholera spread therein.

Our water catchment areas greatly need to be well protected, if not development and human activities around these areas will cause these water source to dry up thereby causing scarcity.
