To shoot a Mountain Lion (cougar) you need a hunting license and a tag. As long as I am not threatened I would not shoot. I do hunt for meat, but I do not enjoy the killing part. It is just part of life. I wouldn't get a tag for a cougar...they have their role to play in natures scheme. But if I felt threated or if it was going after one of my dogs then I would protect myself or my dogs. Great question
