One fruit per plant. Future slips will grow off the adult. Plant those and they fruit much sooner than the parent plant. The original post implies planting the top of a pineapple fruits in a few months. In truth about 2 and half years for maturity and fruiting.

Yes. It was a couple of years. thanks for the tip on planting the slips. There are a bunch of them and I didn't know what to do with them.

If you'll separate and plant those slips toss in some Osmocote and/or Foliage Pro they'll grow so fast it's about amazing. How ever many you plant is how many pineapples you'll have next summer and much larger pineapples than the top will produce. You're just at the stage now to really grow some beasts ;) I have a video about 511 soil mix shared here and it's a real good mix for the pineapples. Maybe add a bit more compost or rich soil to create it closer to a 521, either way will work just fine. The pine bark adds the drainage and acidity they need.
