Birdwatching in B.C: Waiting for the ferry

What to do when you're waiting for your ship to arrive? Look at all the seabirds of course.

A gull flies across the scene as the shutter closes. It carries on across the bay.

These gulls sport an interesting gray colouration. A different species perhaps?

A crow flies through the area, probably looking for invertebrates to eat.

Who's this bird off in the distance? Zoom. Enhance.

A-ha! A duck! I knew there was a diversity of birds on this shoreline.

Our corvid cousin looks for a snack among the sea pebbles. Hope he finds a crab or two!

Someone left this half-smoked doobie here! I made sure to dispose of it carefully.

I heard Vancouver Island is gorgeous, are there mosquitoes?

Like everywhere in Canada, there are mosquitoes in the summer. My advice: hang out in the direct sunlight where they don't like to lurk.

For some reason those birds look really angry. Did you do anything to them?

That's just your interpretation - I think the duck looks absolutely like it's smirking at you!
