Humpbacks galore!

One thing that is definitely one of my favourite aspects about the Antarctic Peninsula - beside the stunning landscapes, glaciers, icebergs and adorable penguins are the whales!! No surprise there for most of you, I am sure.

A colleague of mine being investigated by a curious humpback early one morning

During the late February and March time of year it becomes somewhat of a whale paradise with whale encounters happening almost every minute no matter where you are and where you look. So for me, I feel pretty much at home and am thoroughly enjoying myself as it is kind of my element.

This is FANTASTIC!!!
thanks a lot for this scrumptious photographic sharing. Yesterday, my friend Auriane was telling me, again, how much she was hoping to go down to Antarctica to be a chef for the crews out there. She has been working in the Arctic for many years now and wants some "change"!?!

Great shots, again, thanks a lot! Namaste :)

oh wow! I hope your friend gets to go down and explore the Antarctic region - it is life changing to experience that part of the world.

Thanks!

I thought that people can not get too close to the whale. They photographed him?

you need to know what you are doing - a lot of the time the whales come to you to investigate what you are. They can be very very curious at times

You are lucky to see it from so close. Thanks for sharing.

Great picture mate :)

Good post... really very nice photos are... your really good o. Your work 🍩🍩🍩🍩thts for you

I have always wanted to go to Antarctica and see the whales up close. With my luck though, one of the tales would come down crashing on the boat. At least I would be able to get some sweet close up pictures of the tale as it is coming down on me.

Amazing shots @thomasjmitchell. It must have been an incredible experience to be that close to such majestic beasts.

I am a Zoology teacher in the Mojave desert of southern California. I would love to visit the Antartic! It has always been on my bucket list. I would love to see a blue whale as it is also on my bucket list. Maybe someday!

For such large creatures humpback whales appear quite friendly. Nice post
