Bumble Bee on Privet Flowers

My post on Privet Flowers can be seen here: https://steemit.com/flower/@whatisnew/beautiful-privet-flowers

This is the Eastern Bumble Bee and the most common bumble bee seen in North America. It is completely covered with black and yellow hairs, with the exception of the typical bald spot in the middle. When the sun hits that spot it shines.

I watched this busy bee as it flew from flower to flower on this Privet shrub. It seemed to be (no pun intended?) in a big hurry and never stopped to rest. It was collecting pollen which is used to feed the larvae in the colony. It must have a big, hungry brood.

This bee also drinks nectar from the flowers.

Thanks for looking!

LOL! It sure is. Thanks for stopping by. : )

You got pretty close there. Nice trivia about the bee's bald spot. Never knew it was there before. I just assumed bees had the black and yellow stripes.

I did get pretty close and also had help with my camera to get closer. Thanks for your kind words @cryptocopy! : )
