Steemit is not an echo-chamber.steemCreated with Sketch.

For the last four years the only Social media I have used have been the decentralised network Diaspora. It was originally made by four US-Americans, but has from the start been a mainly European thing. It also have an overweight of privacy-minded tech-people, Anarchists both capitalist and classic, some hippies, some cyclists, some chemtrailers, homescholers, potheads, zombie-invasion prepers, jazz aficionados, metal-heads and Armenians. A little bit of everything, but I guess still a slightly Euro-lefty echochamber.

Not so for Steemit. Here I have enjoyed badly made birther photo manipulations, Communist manifestos, and... now this: a straight up Nazi video. Arguing that Germany should rise and the degenerate US (multi-cultural and Jewish from the start and all through) be nuked from the earth...

Here is DailyBitcoinNews's post

If you wants to get out of the echo-chamber watch the video.

There's one Steemian I definitely won't be following. There's some stuff I don't need to see.

It is actually made like an infomercial for a clean water project. The only thing is that the music rises in intensity, and then the last third is footage with Hitler and an easy-listening piano theme underneath.

I had seen these posts yesterday, but missed this specific one. It was like watching an accident in slow motion.
One great thing about a censor free platform is that people can out themselves as whatever they want, so that the rest of us can decide whether or not to listen or engage.

Yes, I am not complaining that is there. I'd rather have it available so I can keep myself informed.

badly made pizzagate photo manipulations

I haven't seen one of those yet, can you elaborate or link ?
Do you think all of the thousands of photos are all photoshops ? I guess we photoshopped those raids too..

Can't tell if this is your mental defence against accepting an unpleasant reality, or trolling.

I guess its trolling since you're actively pointing people towards dailybitcoinnews 's hitler video , but it's dissapointing to see - I thought you had a clue :(

I'll try to find it.

Edit: and no I don't believe in the pizzagate conspiracy, but I am not likening it to dailybitcoinnews blatant nazi video. That is in a league for itself. Together with the communism it is examples of things that are normally not in my echo-chamber. I wrote about it here: https://steemit.com/crowdfunding/@katharsisdrill/turbo-killer-and-an-example-of-cultural-differences

OK, here it is and it doesn't say "pizzagate," but "birther" so I was wrong in that. I will change it in the post.

I'm not even sure what I'm looking at there lol..

And sorry anyway, I self triggered by misreading your original post and thought you were endorsing genocide, refollowed dont mind me (need sleeps, eyes arent working so good).

History is never simple, but I am old enough to have experienced the people who lived through it here in Europe, and that has in many ways formed the way I look at these things.

Nah, genocide never really was may main passion :) I do want to be out of the echo-chamber, but to see a nazi video going on as if 1939-45 never happened is something I have to react on. I have known two persons that had been to KZ-camp - both of them Danish protestants, actually. The nazi ideology was just a petty excuse let insanity rule and to profit from it.

Yeah that whole topic I just avoid now.

I've researched and theres a whole alternative history going on there but everyones too emotional to possibly discuss it rationally so what's the point..

It's the same with most topics I'm interested in, everyone knows better already because they've had a certain story repeated to them their whole life and any alternative viewpoint must be wrong :P

I haven't watched his video btw, and this isn't an endorsement of whatever crazy bullshit he's trolling with today - I'm just saying the hitler issue is not as simple/clear cut as some may believe that's all.

I was raised to strive to keep an open mind and listen to other peoples views and beliefs. To try not judge them but to be open to see things from their perspective and see the worth.
And once I have listened and heard and grasped the concept/ the belief, only then am I allowed to form my own opinion, of which is my right to do.
And yet, I admit I got to three minutes of watching this video and I just couldnt go further. I literally began to feel sick.

I did not down vote it for that would be judging and as I said I was raised not to to do that. It is also the Norwegian way.
In Norway our culture is not to condemn but to vote with our feet.
We simply stay away. It is a powerful thing to "stay away".
Thus I will not vote for this fellow nor follow.

In one way I am also glad that it is on Steemit for it proves that the platform really is censorship free.
When people put on such things it only reveals them. I feel safer when I can see the Tiger out in the open than when it is camouflaged in the bushes.

I was raised the same way... not that strange - I am from Denmark. I don't downvote either, but I can't blame people who does. To me it is better to let the good things grow, and hope that it wil outgrow the bad. Sometimes you have to fight, but we are not there yet... even though I fear for the future now in a way I haven't since my childish fears of a nuclear war in the eighties. We are immensely rich and still we suffer, both in Denmark and Norway, from hate and angst. I hope that the votes with our feet will walk in a more positive direction in Scandinavia from now on.

Hei, hyggelig å treffe deg @katharsisdrill
I agree. I was born in Sierra Leone in West Africa but my parents were Scottish. We returned to the UK when the diamonds war began. I found life difficult in the UK because of the class system. I emigrated to Norway 14 years ago when I met a wonderful lady i Sogne fjordane i vestlandet
My heart is very much Norwegian these days. I fell in love with the country not only because it is beautiful but because so is its open culture friendly non-judging attitude.
My wife has a son from a previous marriage who is married to a Danish priest. Stefans Kirke, i Nørrebro. Every year take the ferry from Oslo to visit them and it is always one of my most favorite times of year. Copenhagen is a beautiful and friendly city. At least from my experience.

I hear what you say and understand your concerns.
I try not to worry about the future possibilities of a Nuclear war.
If it happens then we will all be gone so fast we wont even know anything about it.
It will be those who survive will be the unlucky ones for all they will have inherited will be a vast desert wasteland. The winners will be the losers wondering what on earth they have won.
Therefore the best we can do is embrace each day and see its beauty. Love our family and friends with all our heart and try to spread the message of peace and tolerance.
When someone is trying to instigate hate, the best solution is to ignore them, for to interact with then is to give them fuel for their hate. This is the Norwegian way and I have seen how powerful it works.
I wish you all my best warm wishes @katharsisdrill

I lige måde! Funny actually, because I have meet your wife's son-in-law. This is my Neighbourhood you are talking about. It is a friendly city and a Nørrebro a friendly quarter. Strange thing is that when people come here from the provinces they believe it is a warzone terrorized by muslims. That is the image mainstream media including DR National television gives to people. It is true that it is the poorest place in Denmark and we do have a lot of problems, but people here stick together, help each other out just like they do in a village in Jutland. I hope that we will be better to restore the bonds between city and countryside. It is a problem everywhere. Iran - USA - Denmark. Because a lot of the problems we see today is a result of this schism.

It is a small world and we must learn to live together somehow.
How funny that you met my son-in-law Eyolf.
My wife and I shall be visiting Nørrebro again in the Autumn of this year, I now it is a while off yet but it would be great to meet up for a coffee perhaps?
So nice to meet a fellow Scandinavian on Steemit
Har en god helg @katharsisdrill

Sure, would be nice. I am a painter too, even though I do pulp fiction for the time being because I got tired of the art-world. And I meant daughter in law of course, Pernille, right? I have only been there at some of the event they have. It's a very active church.
