#needlework : Scarf Update - 051218

in needlework •  6 years ago

Here's an update of that 'infinity scarf' I posted about on Monday.

I've done (and re-re-done) it quite a few times to try and manage the tension on the edge stitches to try and keep one side from being looser than the other. @jen0revision is really happy with it so far, so I've continued working on it.

The photo above shows you the right side and the wrong side (which I personally prefer).

As an aside, I reckon I could be forgiven for thinking that there was going to be more of a gradual change of colour considering the label :

I thought the colour changes would be less noticeable somehow and, for the record, I did look up the definition of 'ombre' :

... ombre is the French word for color that is shaded or graduated in tone.

As long as the recipient is happy, I shall continue.

I sure everyone loves getting a hand made gift from you :) I wouldn't worry about that lol

:D ... it's details though, @steven-patrick and misleading labels :D

Love the scarf - and you're right, the purl side looks great! I thought that "Ombre" means a more slow gradient without abrupt color change, too.

Tipp: Do you have a Ravelry-account? You can do a quick search for the yarn there when you're in the shop and take a look at the projects made with it. If you have the associeated "Stash-to-go"-App you only need to scan the bar code on the label ;)

Thank you for the tip, @muscara ... Many computers and lap tops ago I set up an account so I'll have to re-activate it :)

I would have labeled the yarn "self-striping" but of course it depends on your number of stitches per row or round. On a sweater, it might be more ombre than stripe. Pretty, though.

I agree with you, @fiberfrau... it's a very misleading label to me though. I've now run out of the 100g skein so my daughter's got to decide how we finish it to achieve the width - I'm not buying any more of it or I'll end up having some left :D

Hey @crytocariad, i like the side that looks like it was knitted or purled. So cool that tunisian stitch can create that effect. I thought ombre means gradual too. This one looks more like variegated yarn, the ones I usually get to minimize need for colour change since the yarn changes colour by itself :D
