Needlework Monday: Crafters Are Never Alone

in needleworkmonday •  7 years ago

Totally missed posting this on Monday, so here I am today....

From time to time, I am sharing my crochet projects here on Steemit in a wonderful community known as #NeedleworkMonday.

Needlework Monday

So why am I a part of one of the best hashtags on Steemit (in my opinion, at least)? There are a bunch of reasons I feel this way, but here are my top 3:

  1. I feel like I am not alone.
My spouse and some of my friends feel like crocheting is an "old folks hobby". They don't understand how relaxing it is for me, and how practical it can be. When I found #NeedleworkMonday, I was happy to see people of ALL ages sharing the various projects that they are working and how happy it makes them to finish things for themselves or their family members and friends.

  2. There are SO many variations of crafters.
Just a quick visit to the hashtag every Monday and seeing amazing things being made by hand inspires me. I love viewing the posts of those who felt, who sew, who quilt, who knit, who crochet, who make decorative lampshades, and more. Plus, reading their explanations on how and why they are doing their projects is cool.

  3. New project ideas are just a post away.
Yes, as I read posts from the wonderful folks in the community, I come up with new ideas for my own projects. We also have a community project of some type that blesses someone in our local area, should we choose to do the project. And as I made a commitment to do some type of crochet project every month for my own relaxation and stress relief purposes, reading the #NeedleworkMonday posts help me to choose what is next.

Now here comes the hard part...who in the community inspires me? Goodness - there are SO, SO many folks in the #NeedleworkMonday community who fit this description. I'm going to list them in no particular order with the reason why....

PersonPhotoReason
@crosheilleFab HatThis fabulous mama introduced me to this community. Her crochet creations are SO beautiful, and her commitment to this community is unparalleled.
@crystalizeInspector DaxShe and her assistant, Inspector Dax, are always showing us their stunning lampshade projects.
@apanamamamaGirl's QuiltHer quilts remind me of the ones my grandma used to make: vibrant, beautiful, and exactly with the person in mind that it is intended for.
@neumannsalvaSweaterShe makes crafting clothes for yourself so much fun with the energy she puts in every post.
@g-gurl84Mandala VestI am 100% impressed with her crochet projects, her embroidery projects, and her other needlework.
@anisePantry CoverShe was making this pantry cover over the course of a few weeks. Isn't it gorgeous??
@shanibeerBust the StashShe is a knitter who makes beautiful items for friends and family and has ingenious ways to "beat the stash".

Question:
Are you someone who enjoys doing arts and crafts, working with a needle of some type, who feels like they are alone, or even has people in their lives laughing or shaming them for their love of handcrafted items?
Know that you are NOT alone. This amazing community is here to keep you encouraged, keep you inspired, and keep you crafting! Come on in to the #NeedleworkMonday community and hang out a while, and you'll see what I mean....

Thanks for the mention! It's always nice to see what everyone brings to the "table" here on Steemit!

You are welcome, and I do agree - it's great to see what others bring to the table!

💜💛💚💙❤❣
Glad you posted! Weird that the photos didn't show up. Happy belated needleworkmonday!

I know - super weird. Since we have a long weekend, I plan to do some research and see what happened with my pictures.

Thank you for the lovely mention. So pleased you enjoy #needleworkmonday 😊

You are welcome. Yes, I really enjoy being here. 😁

Awww this was such a lovely write up! Even though the pictures didn’t show up I still enjoyed reading ;) Thank you so much for your generous and warm comments, they mean a lot. ☺️

It’s funny you mentioned how your husband and friends feel about your crocheting. Before I learned how to crochet I thought it was for older people too lol! I thought only grandmas knitted and crocheted...boy was I wrong! 😅

I love all of the different variations that are brought to the table every week too. Great choice on the highlighted needlworkers and I agree with everything you said about each of them. I know this was a hard task because everyone equally brings their own special and unique gift to the community. This is exactly why I’ll be occasionally doing a highlight post of all of the needlworkers :D

You are welcome! That is funny that you had the same thought! 😁The highlight post sounds like a great idea!

Thanks!! I’m looking forward to to doing them :D

Totally agree with you @mrswin! We are never alone in this community because of so many nice and friendly members who never fail to leave kind comments of support.

Thanks so much @marblely! Very true - love this community!
