Needlework Monday: Am I Cursed?

So, I frogged the hat and started over. I got further than I was when I frogged it, so I felt better.

It's looking good. I did a big green stripe for the brim, a blue/green stripe, and just started a solid blue stripe.

So what's the problem?

It's still too big. I don't know how the fuck that happened, as I was counting stitches this time.

How frustrating! Hats and I don't get along at all. I seem to only be able to make a hat that'll fit somebody once out of every five tries. No clue why. Same stitching, same hook, same type of yarn, same pattern.

It's a mystery.

I am apparently stuck in this vortex I have never been in before! 😥

Oh sorry to hear that, and I know how you feel! With my baby blanket, I un-raveled it four times before I was finally happy with the feel and look of it.

Thank you for your empathy.

What size needles are you using? On Ravelry there is a recipe called the man hat. I've used that one regularly as a base, I don't do the knit one Purl one thing, I just knit all the way around after five rows of k2p2. It's a free pattern so check it out to get some ideas for the number of cast on Stitches, Etc.

The same exact needles I used to make the last one that I love but am allergic to, lol.

I do love the colors though, it's going to turn out really nice once you're happy with it.

Thank you. 😊

You and me both! I'm planning to use elastic to deal with my last too large error. The problem for me is that I want tailored but live in fear of it turning out too small 😱 Smaller needles may be the answer this time round. Is it worth doing a tension swatch?

Oh no how frustrating!! I’m so sorry I can’t offer any advice about knitting but I can offer some encouragement to say don’t give up yet and hang in there. I like those colors you chose...I hope you can get it worked out.

Thank you. :)

Absolutely ;)

Very pretty @phoenixwren his green line is perfect

Hang in there! Ribbit! 🐸

oh nooo... Will you hit me if I recommend crocheting your hat? No really... for me it is so much easier to crochet a hat, no need for dpns and I can start with the smallest part, so I can better calculate the width.
Did you have a pattern you are following (I forgot, if you mentioned it)? If yes, perhaps the pattern may be faulty...

LOL, nah, crochet is 100x harder for me. I've already frogged and restarted and am an inch in. I think I finally have it. I don't know what happened before!

I cross my fingers :-D
