Hello all, I have come to know that some of you or those you know and are in the US, have been fortunate enough to win the DV lottery this year. That is a great news. Congrats!

If you are in the US (are on a legal status and came legally), you are eligible to adjust your status to get the greencard here, without having to travel to Nepal. Yes, you can do it if you are on F1 or TPS too. But if you won DV here but your immediate family members (spouse and kids) who are included in the DV, are in Nepal, it is however, wise to go to Nepal after you get what is called the second letter in October.

If you are adjusting your status while in the US, you would have to wait until the end of September first, that's when the visa number for DV winners becomes available. Then, you would have to do the medical, file the form I-485 and gather the necessary paperwork. You will then apply for greencard/adjustment with USCIS.

Instead of writing a long boring post, I have found a great, to-the-point and official link from USCIS website that clearly explains the procedures. Also, asking your DV winning friends for help will not hurt at all. Please have a look and wishing you all the best... :)
