Tonight me and the boys are up to no good, couple of hoods playing through the throngs of Uruk-hai in Middle Earth. ;)

What is this?

This is Lord of the Rings, Living Card Game. It is a co-operative collectible card game where friends work together to defeat the hords of Orc and Uruk-hai, while weilding the might of all your favourite Fellowship friends.

How does this play?

Each hero has unique attributes and limitations which come together with his/her allies to form a totally unique playing experience.

Check out my personal favourite, Sam Gamgee!

Sam Gamgee:
He has five statistics, threat cost (8), will power (3), attack (1), defense (1), and health (3). Plus he has a special ability or "response" which enables him to re-ready after exhausting once already, if he is engaged by an enemy that round.

Each hero has similar but diverse and unique skills and abilities.

Each team is made up of three heroes, today I am playing with the hobbits, Sam, Merry and Pippin. Here is the rest of my team.

Merry:

Pippen:

Why this game is so great:

The artwork and the skill builds and team compositions are realpy fun to tinker with but perhaps the best part is the game is played cooperatively with your best nerd-friends. You all work together against the random enemy card draws and you must overcome their unique abilities and treachery effects.

Conclusion:

This is a lot of fun and challenging but the real beauty is in its re-playablility.

Each time you play your team, your friend(s) team(s), your card draw, the quest played, enemies encountered, and victory conditions are new and excitingly unpredictable.

This game is a blast. And the entire time you hang with your boys, talking, laughing and if you're us, you eat pizza.

Give it a Google, learn more, check it out. It is so fun, particularly if you, like me, love Tolkien's lore and universe of The Lord of the Rings.

Haha. Its requires creative thought and back and forth conversation between you and your friends to develop team and card decks that are capable of overcoming the unique challenges each quest.

If you check it out let me know what you thought.

Looks like fun, gone to check it out!
