Luke Cage Marvel: Go Behind the Scenes with Stunt Rigging Coordinator

My name is Roberto Lopez, I was the stunt rigging coordinator on Luke Cage for Marvel Netflix. I worked closely with the stunt coordinator James Lew. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Lew) Working for Marvel Netflix present many challenges.

From working on 4 of the Marvel Netflix shows I can tell you that the pressure is on everyone involved to bring the audience big budget stunts and production value to shows but we have Tv schedules and time constraints. On a film you can start testing up to six months before the film starts. On a TV show You have a week normally or two if we are super lucky.

There's lots to do when big wire stunts are required, safety comes first; scout the location, figure out how we going to rig in that locations. Then we brainstorm, come up with a plan, pitch it. Then we test it, train the stunt people or the actors. Make sure we took all cost and safety into consideration and then we shoot. As we can't always be in two places at once, many times we have different units testing, while the other are on set supporting what stunt rigging is need on set that day.

So as you can see it gets super complicated and the pressure is on. It stays like this until the last day of production. Linked here is a video so you get an idea of what we test and how it looks after its filmed. In the video if you don't see a test clip means we never tested it. Somethings things come up you do not have time to test and do a test video. Enjoy!
