- Netherlands: IJburg
In urban communities where there are lodging deficiencies, governments and land engineers need to get a little innovative with regards to building new homes. One city that is having an especially troublesome time with an absence of lodging in Amsterdam. One of their answers is a progression of manufactured islands called IJurb.
Development on the islands began in 1996 in IJmeer, which is a lake east of the city. There are three islands: Steigereiland, Haveneiland, and Rieteilanden, and they are associated with each other and the territory by spans.
Starting at 2015, there were 20,000 inhabitants living in IJurb, however, once development is finished, it will give homes to 45,000 individuals. Likewise on the islands are schools, strip malls, clinics, eateries, and shorelines.
Inside IJurg, there is an area called the Waterbuurt or the Water District. In that area, the homes are drifting houseboats that are moored to piers. Individuals who wouldn't fret spending somewhat more even have a dock outside their home where they can dock their watercraft.
