Paul and the new man: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another. Colossians 3:16

The apostle Paul, at a time when heresies threatened the Christian faith, wrote, when he was probably in Rome, with devotion his epistle to the Colossians; in it, the apostle of the Gentiles highlighted the supremacy of Christ over all the things of the world, and the importance of leaving the old man and look for that new man, made in the likeness of Christ, the new Adam, as Lord Jesus taught with wisdom: "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful" Luke 6:36.
And this old man that Paul warns to the first Christians about is the man bound to error, passions, and suffering, and fundamentally an enemy of God and his eternal plan of spiritual salvation: "At one time you were far away from God and were his enemies because of the evil things you did and thought" Colossians 1:21.
And to better expose the opposition of the grace of the Lord to this old man, Paul remarked how the new man rejects the apparent goods like happiness and money, and seeks what is truly important for the life of man: "Therefore, if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth" Colossians 3:1-2.
Because the new man recognizes God in his heart and does what pleases the creator of all things, Paul added, and this implies, as the apostle taught, knowing how to live with that wisdom that God instills from above: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord" Colossians 3:16.
The Epistle to the Colossians is fundamentally a text that points out the importance of spiritual warfare to achieve a full and fearless life.
