The RICE Therapy Protocol (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate) has been being prescribed for over 50 years now. It’s the bread and butter of physical therapy clinics around the world. There are 6,600 global monthly searches for it on Google. People use one ore more components of it everyday. And there are some that swear by it’s seemingly magical healing powers to this day. But does it actually work?



In my experience, no. At least not the rest or ice parts. Actually I’ve found these to be more harmful than helpful. This is mainly due to them interfering with the natural inflammatory response and minimizing/restricting movement, both of which are needed for the body to properly heal. Multi-Positioning Tower — Great for active rest and elevation while passively taking your hip from flexion into extension with your ankle/foot in a neutral (dorsiflexed) position while also promoting extension throughout your spine.
