Ethereal-Big deal or hoax?

As some of you might know there is a new Social Network called Ethereal coming up. The unusual thing about it: There is no information at all about it. All I found were these links, which leave me behind with no clue about the intention or the use of Ethereal:

TL;DR the links:

-There is a countdown on the main website (currently at about 1D -7h). No more info, just pictures.

-Ethereal was developed for about 6 months

-Ethereal is a Social Network based on Ethereum

-There is no tokensale as they use an existing currency

-Theresa, who answers on behalf of the Ethereal team (that's what she said in her reddit post), says: "Ethereal tokens represent Ether 1:1. Steem is a different kind of system. I cannot reveal too much, but imagine a social network where things such as votes and Reddit Gold represented real value." (taken from reddit)

-It seems to be not open source

Given these information there are 5 scenarios possible:

Scenario 1: After the countdown ends more information is released. Nothing more.

Scenario 2: After the countdown ends nothing happens.

Scenario 3: After the countdown ends Ethereal launches and it is revolutionary. One question remains: How? Will it be like the AKASHA network (http://akasha.world), which is currently developed on Ethereum using a similar system to steemit (you can earn ETH through posts etc.) or will it be completely different to it (Its said on reddit that the Ethereal developers didn't know about AKASHA when starting with Ethereal)? How will it compete with steemit (already in beta) and AKASHA (close to alpha, but with Vitalik Buterin as advisor)? Will they have identity-theft problems like steemit?

Scenario 4: Ethereal launches and is very similar to existing social networks.

Scenario 5: Ethereal is a hoax. They gave us no information so they look interesting enough for signing up instantly without knowing bad stuff can happen.

I have no idea what is going to happen, but silently I hope they have something that will surprise us and that lets them stand out among steemit and AKASHA . Maybe someone of you has more information and can bring light into the darkness so let's have a discussion here! If any information in this post is wrong pls let me know so i can edit it.
