Yahweh, rescue us from evil people, defend us from men of violence, from people plotting evil, forever intent on stirring up strife, who make their tongues as sharp as serpents' with viper's venom on their lips.
Yahweh, guard us from attacks by the wicked, defend us from those who love force, from people plotting to make us stumble, forever laying snares where we walk, insolent wretches, concealing pitfall and noose to trap us as we pass.
We have told Yahweh, "You are our God". Yahweh, listen to our cry for help. Yahweh, our Lord, our saving strength . Yahweh, shielding our head when we have to fight, Yahweh, do not grant their wicked wishes, do not let their plots succeed.
May those besieging us not win, may their own cruel words overtake them, may red-hot embers rain down on them, may they be flung into the abyss for good, may evil hound these men of violence to death and the slander not hold his own on earth.
We know Yahweh, will avenge the wretched, and see justice done for the poor. The virtuous shall have good cause to thank your name, and the upright to find and home with you. Let it be done according to your will, in your Christ, your anointed, we ask you to answer our request for the sake of your Holy Name and Honor.
