I joined about a month ago, and had really good luck starting out, got super excited!!, and thought maybe I could be a rising Steemit star! But then I posted a couple of the best things I have yet, and they didn't do very well :,(
Is it because I did something wrong, or against the Steemit moral code? Or it's just normal to sometimes be noticed and sometimes not? I would immensely appreciate any feedback, tips, guidance, whatever. If my posts are shit, tell me. I love Steemit and wanna be the best Steemian I can be.

This one was a very weird post lol. So I'm not SUPER surprised that It didn't do too well, but with 71 votes? and only $1.94 WITH randowhale. I thought Steemit would like :( Perhaps using randowhale turns whales away?

This one did horrible haha. $0.93. I did feel I perhaps misused the openmic tag? but I saw other posts on there, doing well, that weren't specifically for the contest so I went with it anyways.

I usually do power up 50%, maybe power up 100 is more appealing? Ill try on this one :) I'm in it for the long haul, I see the growth and potential of this wonderful platform, and wanna help propel it past all other social networks!! ...which it surly will.
Welcome to steemit, first, i can't see your videos right now (network..), but i can tell you what i think.
Music still isn't very much valued in steemit, same as video (at least not as the top trending tags https://steemit.com/tags) as they are a bit more heavy and not everyone can reach them on the web, on the other side, it is just a matter of time until more people with some voting power start voting on those categories.

Just keep doing amazing music and everything will be fine. I am in the same case where I got good post payout my first month and then my best post make barely a few cent sometimes. Not worth my time obviously BUT steemit will grow, people will know about you if you persist, it's at least what I am telling myself. If steemit fail, well you will be like me and have a shit load of new original music recorded...

exact same story here. i had a few really nice upvotes but it doesn't seem to consistently hold the money to quality ratio. the way i see it is keep on doing your thing and don't worry about it =p

Sometimes you get valuable votes and other times you don't. Its always best to upvote and earn from curations to boost your steem power (which influences payments). If you're looking for more earnings then befriend many whales, but it all comes down to the algorithm. When they upvote, how they upvote, and how much influence a certain vote has determines whether or not your post will shine.
Don't be discouraged, focus on making good content and engaging with the community. If they grow, you grow. Make friends and steem on!

I am new to steemit so I don't know how much of my opinion holds weight. The one thing I know is that people that succeed are those that keep going and don't give up. Will your hard work make you rich? Maybe, maybe not. Don't look at each post as a success or failure based on the income, instead it is more like stepping stones for more opportunities in the future. From my point of view, I am rather impressed if you have only been posting for 30 days and have had that much success.
