Newbie here!

Hey everyone! I registered for Steem a couple of months ago but I didn't really use it that much. I'm not sure how things work. If anybody could explain to me, that'd be really helpful! I saw some people get 5 upvotes, but it said they got 0 STEEM, and others got only one upvote and still got STEEM. How does the upvoting system work, and are some people's upvotes worth more than others?

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
