Confessions Of A Noob or COAN is my self awareness journey on Steemit. Hope you enjoy!

I did not arrive here under my own steam.
It just so happens I was invited to this town. I had a friend @shadowspub tell me there was a place left in this world with greener pastures.

A place where pioneers
could still stake a claim and live the dream of being fiercely independent, yet still have the opportunity to engage with neighbours and partner with whomsoever they wished.

I did find the welcoming committee too which was awesome!

There were a lot of kind smiles
and waves when I rode into town from the train station. The blast of the iron horse’s steam whistle still ringing in my ears.

I've never been much of a smoker
but I think the gun oil and saddle leather set me off and I decided to have a cherry and rum flavoured colt. I raised my face a little, just enough so the brim of my hat would allow the sun to warm my face. I took a long draw of my rum flavoured colt and reached down to just slightly loosen the dual nickel-plated 45 caliber peacemakers on each hip as I nudged my horse down mainstreet. I'm certainly not expecting a fight it’s just comforting in case, oh you know, a rattler tries to bite my horse's leg or something.

I may be new to this town but I'm not new.
Anyone who's been using computers since 1988 and cut their teeth on IRC is very likely to have a few scars from fencing with barbed wire and maybe a couple of old through and throughs. It's definitely a new town, and it is certainly next level. But make no mistake that it’s still a town. I recognize many of the buildings and
I'm quickly sorting out where the saloon is,
who local law enforcement is,

and I found the preacher, the bartender and a wise old man.

I even stopped for a moment at the graveyard
and bowed my head and tipped my hat just a little so it wouldn't be too obvious. I just wanted to acknowledge those who came to this town with big dreams before me and were gone way too soon.

This world certainly seems like a great oyster
and you could surely drink yourself to death and party without sleeping and burn yourself out in a week and join the others in the local graveyard.

Me. I’m going to mosey.
I’ve been finding a lot of old hands here who also like to mosey. I touched my shirt pocket to hear the reassuring crinke of the paper that my telegram is printed on. Confirmation from the town clerk that I own a stake in this town along with a stern warning not to lose it, because
only the physical bearer of that telegram owns that stake.

I’m going to get a coffee at the local diner
and do a little people watching now. Then I need to get the daily lowdown from the bartender who will hopefully give me some more local insight.

I won’t be visiting the cathouse
anytime soon, it looks like the girls are just as well armed and shoot just as well. I like a level playing field.

Last thing I need is to get hooked by a local beauty.

After my coffee and local knowledge uptake,
I'm going to find a tranquil spot to sit and read for a while and water my horse.

I'll see you folks around town,
have an amazing day and don't forget to enjoy the sunrise and the sunset.
Lift your face just enough for the sun to warm it.

I love your writing! This analogy is fabulous. The photos kept me entertained, and you wove some wisdom into your words. I actually burnt myself out in a week. lol! But I know how to step back, focus on self-care, and dive back in. If you fall off a horse, you get back on, right?

You're delightful, @thebugiq. Thanks for being here. :)

I'm so happy you stopped by @katrina-ariel :) See ya around town!

WONDERFUL story, and the accompanying photos are fabulous! The shot that intrigued me the most was the rustic, old church! All are wonderful captures, though!

Thanks so much @thekittygirl Yah that is a cool old church near Prince George BC. It's nice to have my photography appreciated :)
