While prohibiting cryptocurrency ads or digital currency circulating on the platform, does not mean Facebook really does not like cryptocurrency
Facebook reportedly preparing to make its own virtual currency, although not yet known when the official was announced.
"Like other companies, Facebook is exploring ways to harness the power of blockchain technology," said a Facebook spokeswoman, as compiled KompasTekno from CNBC on Sunday (13/05/2018).
Facebook plans to make cryptocurrency is not the first time pushed. But it seems, Facebook this time seems more serious to realize it.
Beginning with Mike Schroepfer appointment for Head of New Platform and Infrastructure, after Facebook overhauled the company's internal bulk.
Schroepfer who previously served as Chief Technology Officer will be responsible for developing long-term company products including blockchain. For information, blockchain is a basic technology in the operation of cryptocurrency.
Blockhain has a decentralized records storage system. This system is believed to help Facebook out of its problems lately such as identity verification or advertising sales.
As said earlier, Facebook has not announced when it will launch its homemade cryptocurrency. Facebook is also said to have no plans to hold a digital coinage offering or commonly called ICO.
