BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:25 P.M.) - According to Syrian state media (SANA), the Syrian Army and allied paramilitary groups have seized four towns from US-backed forces on the eastern shore of the Euphrates.

Specifically, reports say that Syrian pro-government forces seized the towns of Junaynah, Jayah, Shamrt Hossan and Huwayjat Ma'ishyah, all located to the north of Deir Ezzor city.

Sources in the area claim that the Syrian Army assault comes immediately after Kurdish fighters withdrew from the above-mentioned towns, handing them over to second-rate Arab units.

Whilst no US airstrikes against Syrian pro-government troops have been reported yet, US-backed forces on the ground are reportedly launching a counter-attack in order to recapture the lost towns.

Updates to follow as more information becomes available.
