BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:15 A.M.) - The official media wing of the Kurdish-led People's Protection Units (YPG) issued a statement on Friday morning that called on the Syrian government forces to assert control over the areas they have withdrawn from.
"We invite the Syrian government forces to assert control over the areas our forces have withdrawn from, in particularly Manbij, and to protect these areas against a Turkish invasion," the YPG's official Twitter account said.
The new statement does not clarify which areas the YPG has withdrawn from, nor does it mention the fate of Manbij city, which is currently a target for the Turkish military and their rebel allies in northern the region of Syria.
A short while ago, pro-government activists began reporting that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) had entered the city of Manbij after an agreement was made with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) this morning.
As of now, the Syrian Army entering Manbij remains unconfirmed as neither the latter nor the Syrian Democratic Forces have confirmed these reports.
