As of today, Trump signed a memorandum directing the attorney general to propose a regulation to "ban" all devices that can turn any legal weapon into machine guns. For all those who have been asking for some response from the President today we see some tangible action taking place. Let's see if the Presidents get's any credit from the MSM.

Change is slow. But, I'll take it. Because something is always better than nothing.

He didn't request or demand a bump stock ban.
He specifically referenced the ATF and its public comment period.
Bump stocks, per ATF definition, do not change the functionality of a firearm from semi auto to full auto. Being semi auto or full auto has nothing to do with rate of fire, it's the actual function of whether the trigger allows one shot or more than one shot per individual activation. That is not, in any sense, what bump stocks do.
All he did, which is exactly what the NRA did after Las Vegas, was request that DoJ and the ATF review the regulations and ban devices that alter the function of a firearm from semi auto to full auto.
Bump stocks are a $400 gimmick that can be replicated by damn near anything. It's a technique and not dependent on specialized equipment.

You can see the video here in the Presidents own words.

"...clarify whether certain bump stock devices are illegal under current law."
"...to ban all devices that turn legal weapons into machine guns."
Bump stocks are not illegal under current law. The ATF has explicitly approved their sale and use.
Bump stocks also do not "turn legal weapons into machine guns" per the actual legal definition of "fully automatic."
I'm not trying to be a dick, but you're hearing what you want to hear. This is the exact same thing the NRA did after Las Vegas. It looks like "doing something." Any honest reading of current law excludes bump stocks from qualifying as a full auto conversion. Changing that definition would likely require legislative action, by the pro-gun party, in a midterm election year, and actively appearing to do nothing emboldens the opposing party while actively doing something pisses off the base, the people that are most likely to actually vote in a midterm election.
President Trump isn't calling for a ban on bump stocks. He's shifting the responsibility to DoJ and the ATF.

After today's meeting with the President where he and America listened to the impassioned stories of the various victims, we are most likely going to see changes and semantics won't be a concern because things are about to change.
I'm a gun owner and supporter of the 2nd Amendment so naturally, I have skin in the game too. I've had the opportunity to cover the for America rallies here at our capital, which I covered on my YouTube channel and had the opportunity to meet a lot of our 2nd Amendment leadership at both rallies. You can also read my thoughts on a solution to this issue as well, which I posted the other day.

"Semantics."
You mean the actual law, as written, and applied.
This isn't some dumb clip vs magazine pissing contest. This is the actual legal definition of an entire class of firearms. Shoving whatever is demanded into the definition renders the definition pointless and carries an enormous potential for abuse.
I'm all for effective, legal changes to how we deter, prevent, and respond to mass shootings. Unilaterally ignoring the actual, literal, current law is absolute nonsense.

Yea, I think you can make one at home.

You can. You can also replicate the effect using your thumb and your belt loop.
You can also just pull the trigger really fast. Which is literally all that a bump stock does. For about $400.

Why? Is that really going to change anything? Maybe they can hire school psychologist, armed guards and buy some metal detectors. Maybe that will stop some school shootings at least. But, teachers get paid shit anyways so no money for that!

If you saw my post in regards to a solution I outlined that if children are our most precious resource, if they are our most valuable commodity, then they need to be protected as such. If we can protect our gold with armed forces, if we can guard our money with armed forces, if we can guard private facilities with armed forces (meeting force with force), then let's start protecting them as though they are our most valuable asset.
