How to pick a healthy camel

in news •  8 years ago  (edited)

When buying a new camel, people often get overwhelmed by the many intricacies of the market. The first thing to remember is to keep calm, this is a big decision.

  • Check the camels teeth. If the previous owner has been taking the care they should of the camel, the teeth will show it. Mild discoloration is normal and can be expected, but if you see any serious abscesses, or cavities, this should be a red-flag.

  • Talk to the camel. If it makes eye-contact and blinks at you, it s a good sign. If the camel avoids your gaze, or looks straight at the ground, it may have encountered abuse from its previous owners.

  • Smell the camels breath. If you smell an acrid metallic smell, this could be a sign of an underlying stomach condition that could put the camel out of service for months.

If you follow these simple steps, the chances of getting an unhealthy camel will be much less.
