US President Donald Trump has spoken with National Security Adviser John Bolton and Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo to form an Arab coalition force to replace the American position in Syria.
"The President's intentions are clear, the United States wants to continue and fight against ISIS in Northern Syria and the president also believes regional forces in the Middle East continue their struggle against ISIS," said David M. Satterfield, an official at the US Foreign Ministry.
Currently, America is pursuing the contributions of Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to help deal with Iran in Syria. A source close to the White House told CNN, Tuesday, April 17, 2018, the Americans immediately withdraw its troops in Syria in the near future.
"The abandoned position must be the one that occupies, the United States will ask Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt," said the unnamed source.
In a report in early April, CNN said the White House told Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council that America would reduce troop numbers in Syria. But the plan has not received remarks from military officials.
evertheless, the United States plans to get a positive response from Saudi Arabia. Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir says his country is ready to send troops to Syria along with other Arab countries.
