And what exactly was the US expected to do?
Regardless of whether the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and finally move the US embassy there is a bad idea or not, the resolution directly attacks the United States. I really don't see why time was wasted on a vote. Were they expecting the US to vote against itself? I fail to see how isolating the US on this issue will help anybody. If anything, it may make it harder for President Trump to change his mind.
