The low-cost carrier CheapAir is looking for an alternative payment system so that in future it will be able to accept additional cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin Cash, Dash and Litecoin as payment from its customers in addition to Bitcoin. Coinbase will discontinue the existing service Custodial that CheapAir has used to accept and process Bitcoin payments.

Coinbase is in the process of discontinuing the Custodial service, which is essential for accepting Bitcoin payments from CheapAir. The company CheapAir asks its customers to help them find an alternative that supports Bitcoin as well as Bitcoin Cash , Dash and Litecoin .

CheapAir was one of the first travel websites to accept payments in Bitcoin since 2013, contributing to the worldwide adoption of cryptocurrencies. Now the company is facing a major challenge as it needs to find an alternative as soon as possible to receive Bitcoin payments.

As Coinbase discontinues its service, it can no longer exchange the received Bitcoins in fiat currencies and pay it off to its partners, such as hotels or other airlines. The CEO, Jeff Klee, addresses his clientele in an open letter and is looking for alternatives:

Today we face some challenges and we ask for your help in finding solutions. We have recently been notified by our service partner, Coinbase, that they will no longer support dealers’ custodial solutions and will remove a number of the tools and features we need to accept Bitcoin from CheapAir.com customers. These changes should take place in a few weeks.

Instead of deepening this, we take this as an opportunity to offer you an even better solution with even more digital payment options.

CheapAir would like to use BitPay, but there is a compatibility issue here, so the search for alternatives continues.

Founded in 1989 by Jeff Klee, CheapAir has since grown into an international company. Even though this is not a multibillion-dollar corporation, every company that supports cryptocurrencies contributes to its adaptation and distribution.

We think and hope that a suitable solution can be quickly found and presented.
