This is basically par for the course EVERY DAY on my program. The common hatemail themes are antisemitism, homophobia, and terrible spelling and grammar.

At the same time, main stream media and colleges and universities around this country have labeled any opinion that differs from theirs as "hate speech".

When someone, especially a political commentator, decries hateful comment, it is easy for any thinking person to be skeptical.

You can only cry "wolf" so many times.

I am appalled by the utter visciouness of the behaviour of many people in online communities. There seems to exist a deep rooted hatred and venom aimed at contributors that are doing nothing other than put out content, in many cases content that takes time, effort, energy and talent and in return offering no fiscal rewards.

I don’t believe that all of these people have phsycological problems but there are some sick people out there and it seems to be getting worse.

I don’t know how people in the media spotlight deal with this level of abuse on such a personal level. I couldn’t do it.

I agree with you 100 percent ormism. I think its because online they can hide behind fake nicnames and remain somewhat anonymous. I call them keyboard warrirors. Alot of lonely people in the world that haven't been able to accomplish goals and be a success. For that reason they are there to case bitterness, despair, and hatefulness towards people that have. My thing is I try to think like a winner and surround myself with like minded people. That does not stop all ad hom attacks but helps some. I believe that we can disagree without being disagreeable. I d rather build relationships and make friends than hate and try to bully others. Best thing to do with a hater is ignore them. Most haters just want attention, and when you don't give them that it takes away all the power they think they have. Anyway I liked you're comment and thought I would like and respond. @davidpakman, at least you can do some fun analysis with hateful user comments. If you are interested I trained an Artificial Intelligence using such comments and the results are quite amusing :-)!

I'm wondering... are these people so angry that, when they write these comments, they are so furious and anxious to get their hatred out there that they don't bother to at least re-read their comments once for spelling and to make sure it makes sense.

This one wasn't too bad, but it seems all these hateful comments have at least a few nonsensical words thrown in there. If they would just read back to themselves before hitting post they'd lower their chances of looking ridiculous, at least by a little bit.

It's amazing how nice people can be when they have money on the line :) another way monetizing social media is great, it helps fight online bullying. When someone can down vote and take away your rewards, people aren't as quick to throw around hateful comments. Plus there is always the chance of getting a nice reward for saying something nice, or leaving a thoughtful comment. 👍

I completely agree that trolls and flamers have mental problems. In my case, I was attacked by a worldwide network of skeptics for my work in astrology. The skeptics do not believe any kind of spirituality is valid. Anonymous haters from science and academia spewed venom on me, outed my home address and said someone should set my house on fire. When Google revamped the user interface with the USENET most of the rude boys found better things to do, because anonymous posting became more difficult in the News Groups.

I am surprised you're getting so many hateful comments. But something seems wrong here, David! Your use of the gun-toting "hatriots" caricature in the DTube vid seems to be making vicious fun of "patriots." Are you saying that you feel the trolls and haters are all conservatives ("patriots"?) I haven't seen or read enough of your posts and DTube vids to see how political you are! It's possible haters aren't popping out of nowhere without reason. Are you a staunch progressive democrat? Taking a tough political stand in your writing will alienate just about half of your potential audience. I've learned to stay off certain subjects so as not to lose clients, because it is ONLY when I make political assertions that I suffer both desertion and criticism. 2015-08-28 21.39.56.jpg

Diversity of opinion is clearly unwelcome in this "enlightened" age. I wrote a post not too long ago on the importance of opinion diversity. When you hate someone because of what they say you have degraded to a condition of radicalization. IMO, intellectually, that is as low as you can go.
