WWE Money In The Bank 2018 Recap

This post was supposed to be up hours ago, but an upset stomach kinda derailed me. Sorry about that. Music Monday will also arrive late, as a result.

Money In The Bank went, for the most part, as expected. It was a solid PPV, with more good than bad, and most of the booking decisions made sense. Let's get into it!

Bludgeon Brothers vs. Good Brothers

This sure was a match that happened.

Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass

The story of the match was simple: Cass is big and strong, whereas Bryan is very good at wrestling. Cass has said "a good big man will always beat a good little man." Well, that may or may not be true, but once again, an excellent little man made a mediocre big man tap. This was very by the numbers, which means it's one of Cass's best singles match ever, and one of Bryan's worst.

Sami Zain vs. Bobby Lashley

Much like the rest of this feud, this match was about Sami Zain trying to make lemonade out of the lemon that is getting squashed by Bobby Lashley. He failed. I don't blame Sami for this. I don't even blame Lashley. This whole entire feud is on the writers.

Elias vs. Seth Rollins

My question for this match was will Seth be able to get a great match out of Elias. And I would say he got a very good match out of him. It's hard to call it "great" after what we saw the night before at NXT TakeOver.

Women's Money In The Bank

This was super awesome. I don't agree with the choice of winner. After the stink of her terrible Nia feud, I thought she needed a bit of time off of the title picture, and basically would have preferred anyone else. Especially Becky, who really had the crowd behind her in a huge way. But the match itself? Very awesome. Much better than both of last year's women's MiTB matches.

Roman Reigns vs. Jinder Mahal

The match barely got started before the "boring" chants got going, so you knew the crowd was not here for this. There were also "NXT" and "Rusev Day" chants. Some "Let's Go Cena/CM Punk" chants for old time's sake. And I should mention that due to my bad hearing, I often have a very hard time making out what the crowd is chanting. So this was VERY audible. And then they did the wave. The gd wave. The idea of this match was "well, they really hate Jinder, so this will make them cheer Roman." That... has not worked out. The match was very basic.

Carmella vs. Asuka

This was Carmella's best match to date, both in terms of athleticism and storytelling. And then James Ellseworth came back in Asuka cosplay. Which... well... that is a thing that happened. It was well done, but I don't love it.

AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura: Last Man Standing for the WWE Championship

Well, this was brutal, as expected. It was the match of the night, as expected. I'm surprised Shinsuke didn't go over. He deserves it.

Men's Money In The Bank

Stacking the match with hosses meant fewer athletic feats, though we did have a few really nice ones. All in all, I think the women's match was better. This was very good, but not great. That KO ladder/table spot, though. That was amazing. And Braun is a fine choice for winner, as this match sent the fans home happy.
