Well that is the narrative that The Washington Post is trying to convey anyway as they glance over the information that is truly relevant in a almost passing manner. At least they didn't completely eliminate the very crucial data that explains WHY they shot the people that they did in the past years.
The "EL" stands for "Exclusive Lies"
I'm going to be as far as I possibly can with this article and give them credit for "kind of" including all the information in the body of the post. However, this does not take away from the fact that our dim-witted and over-reacting population tends to not even read articles these days, but just respond to a click-bait title and the accompanying photo.
This is the photo they used on the top of their article and subsequently this is what will appear in everyone's FB and IG feeds. Notice how they conveniently found the whitest police presence that they possibly could? 43% of the police force in Philadelphia is non-white... how hard do you think they had to work in order to get this picture? The race-baiting over the race of officers is another story, let's stay with the WaPo nonsense for now.
In this article they talk about how near 1,000 people are shot by police every year and then go on and on about how a disproportionate number of them are black. They barely mention that MORE of the people shot and killed by police are white. They kind of glance over the fact that a vast majority of the people shot were armed (most illegally) and they don't mention the fact at all the African-Americans are involved in a disproportionate amount of the overall crime.
They talk about Michael Brown being shot and killed in Ferguson Missouri, but don't even mention the fact that Michael Brown had just committed a robbery, and then when confronted about it by an officer he attacked the police officer.

I don't normally give my opinion on these things but I will here: I believe the power for enforcement should be left up to the individual and this includes protection of your property and the protection of yourself, even if it means escalation of violence. I always found that to be a really silly notion, that you can only use a firearm against someone after they have you in a chokehold on the ground and have stabbed you a few times.
My personal opinion is not why I am highlighting this stupid WaPo article though. I am highlighting it because it is feeding the racist fire that is going on right now in USA by presenting half-assed statistics and omitting most of the information that actually gives context to what the point is. If they were to present the full story (the way I think the media should) people might have a better grasp on what is going on and then be able to make an informed decision. That was not the purpose of this article though. EL Washington Post is just doing what they always do... which is to spread only the information that they want you to believe.
I just hate that these things have infiltrated the ranks of professional sports. I love it when an african american millionaire is lecturing people on how inequality runs rampart in the sports world too. Oh is that why most sports teams are primarily african americans? Doesn't seem very racist to me...

if you were to put that on IG, Twitter, or FB your account would almost certainly get flooded with hateful comments and probably banned.

i think this is the reason why the argument seems so one sided even though it isn't.

I am hesitant to speak about this using my real name anywhere online. It seems as though unless you totally agree with the media narrative that you will be labeled an enemy. I have seen "friends" of mine that are doxing people who say something other than total agreement on this issue.

well of course. Unless you are supporting whatever the mob has to say you better stay quiet but then your silence becomes oppression or some nonsense like that. This is a maze that is designed so that you can't get out of it.
