Player Unknown's Battlegrounds or PUBG as players have come to know it has taken the online gaming and streaming communities by storm and for very good reason too; 100 drop, 1 survives. An all out war in an ever shrinking battleground for the coveted Chicken Dinner.
But how will players fair against each other on different gaming platforms? With added features like the XIM4 controls completely changing the playing field on console in newer games such as Destiny for console gamers where the Xbox or Playstation Analog Controls are the custom how will 'Controller Users' on console keep up with this increasing shift towards a keyboard and mouse setup which makes shooter games as simple as 'point and click' leaving most control users in the dust. Here is a pretty decent video of somebody using the XIM$ feature to tear up the opposition in Destiny to further make my point.
Now this doesn't mean that I'm against PC gamers or Keyboard/Mouse users however functions like the XIM4, whilst trying to move PC gamers to console and change the way the game is played are also playing part in a departure from what it is to be a console gamer- The Joystick. It is my firm opinion that while we shouldn't segregate ourselves and each other into different gaming factions, the should also be tools for levelling the playfield and pros/cons to using either format because as shown in the video above, Controller User's are not going to find it easy to keep up with keyboard mouse users the way things are going unless Developers start working on ways to level out the playing field with limitations on how each platform's control can be used. If not then I don't see why there couldn't possibly be a complete departure from Console and Controller use in an effort to 'be as good as the other guys'.
Please let me know your thoughts and comments on this or if you think it's even an issue.
Should PC and Console be cross-platform without proper "safeguards" and limitations?
