Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyun resigns from the International Consultative Panel formed to resolve the Rohingya crisis, US diplomat Bill Richardson has resigned. As the reason for his resignation, he noted that Suu Kyi 'absence of moral leadership' was in the solution to the crisis.
The news agency AFP reported that on Monday, the panel members had a good time together.In the meeting, Bill Richardson arrested two Reuters journalists, who were responsible for collecting news about the Rohingya crisis, and took up the matter of trial. Suu Kyi responded angrily. Richardson did not like the issue. Three days later, he announced his resignation from the panel.
In the face of suppression of Myanmar army from Rakhine State, about seven lakh Rohingyas fled to Bangladesh in the last five months.The United Nations military campaign is called the 'Ethnic Abolition Campaign'.
In an interview, Reuters Bill Richardson said, "The consultant panel has been made for dust in the eye. I do not want to stay here anymore. This is the main reason for my resignation.
