In a new Twitter tirade on Saturday, the US President also reaffirms that CNN is junk journalism and so-called fake news.

At the same time, Trump continues the attacks against TV hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough from the MSNBC program "Morning Joe". Earlier this week he attacked the two with disgraceful comments directed at their appearance and intellect.

"Crazy Joe Scarborough and dumb as a rock Mika are not bad people, but their low rated show is dominated by their NBC bosses. Too bad!" The president tweeted on Saturday.

The first person attacks on Thursday triggered severe condemnation, and even Trump-friendly Fox News surprised with critical coverage of the president's tweets. Several top officials within Trump's own political party, The Republicans, also expressed strong criticism of the president.

Brzezinski and Scarborough responded on Friday with a post in the Washington Post entitled "Donald Trump is Sick", raising the question on whether he is fit to be president.

In an interview with CNN, the couple also accuses Trump of extortion. The reporters, who are engaged to each other, claim they have been contacted by the White House repeatedly. They state they were told that a tabloid newspaper would publish a very negative article about the two unless they apologized for the coverage of Trump.

The president has rejected this claim on Twitter.
