Ann Curry: Every single woman out there, has suffered from sexual harassment

in news •  7 years ago

Ann Curry who was openly fired from NBC back in 2012, finally spoke out during an interview when she appeared on CBS This Morning. She was there to promote "We’ll Meet Again", her upcoming PBS show.

During the interview, Ann Curry opened up about not being surprised by the sexual misconduct allegations that were leveled against Matt Lauer, her former co-anchor.

Ann Curry was questioned by CBS anchor Nora O’Donnell when she appeared in her first television interview since she was forced out from the Today Show back in 2015. The questions bothered on the environment at NBS New, among others.

Ann Curry alleged that there is a disconcerting climate of provocation or harassment that most women experienced or at least, were aware of. She further stated that she had no intention of hurting anyone – this was in response to a direct question asked of her about any truth in the sexual allegation saga that Matt Lauer was embroiled in.

It was evident that she did not want to discuss or talk much about Matt Lauer, who was her former co-anchor as she cleverly avoided the direct question.

She stated her innocence, and the wrong behavior that was meted out to her when she was fired, and since she knew what it was like to be publicly humiliated, she wouldn’t want another individual to have to live through such an incidence.

However, Ann Curry said she would be stunned if the women who worked at the news outlet did not understand or were unaware of the undercurrent verbal harassment which existed and was quite palpable.
Ann Curry believes that every single woman out there who holds down one job or the other, has in one way or the other, suffered from sexual harassment, no matter how minimal.

It’s true that lots of women endure sexual harassment at their places of work, and even admitted that it had happened to her in several jobs that she had been privileged to handle. It is, according to Ann Curry, a way of downgrading or disregarding women.

She further stated that not only is such a phenomenon bad for the organizations where such behavior is condoned in reckless abandon, but that it is terrible for the entire nation. This is because such a practice limits people, and does nothing about the plight of the victims.

Many people have hypothesized that Matt Lauer had a hand in Ann Curry’s departure from the Today show, which led to Ann Curry giving a touching on-air farewell in June 2012. This incidence provoked a lot of empathy from a few of the viewers of the TV program at the time.

But when Gayle King, another CBS co-anchor, asked Ann Curry about the involvement of Matt Lauer into the incident that got her fired from the media outlet, Curry stated that she was not the ideal person to answer such a question. All she knew was that it was an incident she wouldn’t want to live through again in her lifetime.

Ann Curry mentioned that although she does not know who worked behind the scenes to get her ousted from her former place of work, it was not in any way, a fun moment. But then she has learnt a great deal about herself and just wanted to move on with her life.

Yes. That happens, to men too, though women especially. But nothing is a surprise in our world today anymore, things that were once frowned upon, have now melted into the culture background. What can i say?

This is such an important topic,so much of unacceptable behaviour towards woman has been tolerated and that has to stop.

Here have Safty issue.
great topics.
And great to share.
thanks

Don't know what to say in this topic because this kind of situation is everywhere. ... In india too, many times actresses are sexually harassed by producers, director or co-actors... But we can't say that it is only the male stars faults.. many times female stars also blame them just for publicity... Which is also wrong.. and we can't speak anything about until we know both sides... Because it is easy to say anything but very hard to find the truth...

Fabulous one!!!

Appreciate your post. @jwolf

I condemn violence and harassment of women

Sometimes these allegations are propaganda.

Until we accept other women as sisters this predicament is never going to be ended . Technology is getting civilised but some people have remained still in Iron Age .

Thank you for shareing neWs @jwolf Beautifull explaine

    RESTEEM DONE

this shows the mindset of people who are doing things like this ,there should be something to be done to these people so it may be stooped in the future

Women and men need to support the stop of sexual assault. I would add pay inequity also needs to be apart of the conversation. Checkout my article regarding the recent Mo'Nique issue surrounding Netflix.
