Tinfoil Hat - Enabled

Was thinking earlier today that perhaps the powers at be are guiding the shape of how people interact online via social media and other outlets in order to get the populous to ignore actual issues with society, the world, etc etc in favour of posting ridiculous time wasting memes. Realizing this sounds like tinfoil hat type shit the rebuttal against that is that big internet companies such as google and facebook have already hinted that they are "colouring" peoples news feeds and search results in order to direct the flow of knowledge and internet traffic in directions them, or the government bodies overseeing wish things to be viewed at. Their may be a cold war going on against peoples perceptions.. One that is nearly impossible to detect.

Memes are big because people don't have the attention span to actually read more than a couple words. A picture tells a thousand words so if you want to get an idea out there - meme is the way to go.

Sign of the times.

You've got a good point @buggedout!

Seems we're going back towards hieroglyphs or something!

I was reading somewhere about a study that showed people who watch TV junk like reality shows are more likely to vote for populist politicians. It has something to do with not taking time to learn about what is happening in politics. The culture has changed and some people just want soundbites they can like/vote. It wouldn't surprise me if certain forces are encouraging this. Have you way The Great Hack about Cambridge Analytica? Scary stuff

I heard something about Cambridge Analytica swayying peoples perceptions about stuff and having some great effect on the polls of brexit or some other thing..

Sadly a lot of what you say here above seems to back my hunches about things being engineered to dumb us down and keep us away from the true true.
