Blockchain-based currencies are not exactly in danger of quantum encryption cracking, but I can see a lot of hard-forks happening though. There are quantum resistant encryption algorithms, Post-quantum cryptography - Wikipedia.

Does anyone know of any crypto-currency toying with quantum-attack resistant algorithms? I wonder...

I guess it makes sense since the blockchain is an open public ledger there is nothing to hide from the quantum computer. Maybe the quantum computer would be helpful to break the code for the bank's data instead.

No problem, you would just have to constantly change the cypto key.

I would like to point out a common misconception about quantum computing. While you may try, let’s say, a million possibilities at once, after that your chance of actually measuring the one scenario you are interested in would also be one in a million. There are however some specific problems, that can be solved fundamentally faster on a quantum computer, the one a lot of people are going crazy about is factorizing primes, since that would break a lot of asymmetric key encryptions.

this is a massive powerful machine.

It's a Quantam Leap...loved that TV show:)

The increase in efficiency will be the interesting aspect.

everyone will really have crypto currencies huh?

Let's hope we're sharpening! Thanks for the post
