In a deficit, the video card market needs new solutions. Pour "fresh blood" is capable of a productive novelty from AMD - Radeon Vega Frontier Edition, which will soon be on sale. Recently, PC World portal got the opportunity to test the latest video card from AMD developers, and the test results speak for themselves.
PC World is pleased with the version of Radeon Vega Frontier Edition with an air cooler: the model has 4096 stream processors with a frequency of 1.5 GHz. The novelty has 16 GB of memory HBM2 with a bandwidth of 480 GB / s. For a more complete and exhaustive picture comparison, AMD has provided for testing two systems - PCs running Windows 10 Enterprise Edition, equipped with processors Ryzen 7 1800X and 32 GB of DDR4-2400 memory. The only difference was that one PC received a graphics accelerator NVIDIA Titan Xp, and the other - AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition.
n comparison with the NVIDIA card, AMD proved to be more shrewd in SPECviewperf and SolidWorks applications - 15-50%. Nevertheless, AMD did not reveal the gaming potential of the professional card Radeon Vega Frontier Edition. The developers allowed the PC World resource only, as they say, to evaluate the "on the eyes" of the games DOOM (Vulkan), Prey (DirectX 11) and Sniper Elite 4 (DirectX 12) at 3440x1440 and without frame rate measurements.
According to PC World reports, both tested systems coped with the task without any special problems. However, as the editors themselves note, it is almost impossible to state with complete certainty which Radeon Vega Frontier Edition was installed in which, and in what - Titan Xp.
Edition PC World among other features of the accelerator AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition drew attention to the presence of LED indicator, located next to the connectors of additional power.
LED indicators show the load of the GPU, as well as the ability to create multiple GPU-links.
